Shrimp Prospective with Nursery

pic 1

Shrimp culture in 2025 is considered to still be prospective. This can be seen from the trend of shrimp prices in the local and international markets. If the selling price of shrimp is IDR 65 thousand per kg to IDR 75-80 thousand per kg, farmers still get a profit margin.

“Of course, with the profit margin still being attractive to shrimp farmers. Moreover, small-sized shrimp (100 per kg) are not only in demand by the local market, but also the international market. Shrimp size 100 per kg only needs 2 months harvest time. The market for this small-sized shrimp is quite good,” said the Head of the Brackish Water Aquaculture Center (BBPBAP) Jepara-Central Java, Supito Sumarto.

Although the prospects are quite good, Supito continued, shrimp farmers must be more concerned about the condition of their ponds. Shrimp ponds must be managed properly, according to the SOP. Like shrimp ponds on the North Coast (Pantura) of Java, many are still traditional, so the stocking density is low.

These traditional ponds must be directed to semi-traditional or semi-traditional plus that already utilize water wheels so that the stocking density can be increased. There must also be a break in the shrimp farming method.

This is done so that diseases in the ponds can be stopped. Supito said that the status of Balai Jepara has become a public service center (BLU), for seeding is done according to orders. Balai Jepara also does not just sell shrimp seeds (benur), but also provides technical assistance to shrimp farmers.
