For ornamental fish hobbyists, of course people are already familiar with this type of ornamental fish, cichlid (pronounced cyclid). However, for the general public, the name of this fish that lives in freshwater will feel strange.

In fact, cichlids are not as well known as koi, betta or arowana. However, according to cichlid hobbyist, Edwin Adriansyah, recently cichlids have started to gain a lot of interest and attention.

“The comparison is from the first time I played cichlids about ten years ago. Currently, far more people are familiar with cichlids, because there are more and more types entering Indonesia. In the past, there were only around 20 - 30 types of cichlids on the market, now there are hundreds of types. "That's why people are starting to become aware of the types of cichlids," explained he, who is familiarly called Edwin.

Moreover, there are contests that include fish of the genus Aulonocara as the object of the contest. "Because recently there have been frequent contests, this has also made the Aulonocara type a hype among ornamental fish lovers," he said.

Since he has been involved in the world of ornamental fish for more than ten years, Edwin also shares cichlid trends that are currently popular in the market. "Currently, African cichlids are more popular than other strains, such as American cichlids," explained the ornamental fish hobbyist who has also turned his hobby into a business opportunity.
